Description

Well, uh... I guess I'll be doing one for all my characters after all. Neto's will come around sometime. xD

Unicorn's Visions and its logo are (c) to ~VGiselleH

NO, this is not for a deviantArt group. It's for a forum roleplay site outside of dA that I have been part of for years, and the character references there are all written the old-fashioned way where you describe your character's appearance with words instead of a picture.

Curious? Why don't you try it out? No "waiting lists", no "open or closed" periods, no "Activity checks" (interested yet?) and as long as you notify the site for your inactive/hiatus periods, your character won't be killed off. In fact, even if you fail to be active your character's profile will just be moved to the archives and guess what! You can still have them join back after this (though you'll still have to go through the same acceptance process again.) As far as creating a bio goes, your character WON'T be rejected for any reason as long as you're open to constructive critique. Oh, and your character can be literally anything you want it to be whether you're part of regular zoology or a mythical creature or an original species of your own, as long as it's not human. And yes, that means you can still roleplay zombies, elves, etc. Yes, Zombies.

Literate roleplay, but highly welcoming and kind to newcomers and beginners.

[Name] Was named Iezekiel (YEH-ZEH-KEE-EL), but has gone by "Zeekie" since his arrival to Deep Forest.

[Species] For convenience purposes, his build is mostly based on that of the Sinovenator Changii.

[Gender] Male

[Alliance] Good

[Age] 7 months

[Human Age Equivalency] 16 years

[Age of Maturity] 9 months

[Expected Lifespan] Zeekie is immortal, but he can release his immortality to live out an ordinary life at any time he may wish.

[Appearance]

Created from the dNA of the Lady Amethyst Pheasant, Iezekiel is an incredibly colorful sight. His base color is a rich blue, interrupted only by a bright red dorsal stripe that runs from the base of his neck to the first of his tail-feathers, which are made of not just scarlet, but various green, blue, and black-and-white hues. The feathers running along his arm have alternating shades of turquoise and sapphire, and his entire underside is reminiscent of a zebra’s pelt, white with stripes that start out black but fade to gray as they move down from his chin to his stomach. His legs are a dark gray-blue, and his eyes are a deep but kind green.

As far as body build, Zeekie is your typical prehistoric raptor. His legs are far longer than his arms as well as more muscular for great speed, and his head is long and slender. His jaws are not like a bird’s beak, and they do have teeth. He is 24 inches tall from head to toe, which is about the height of a Langshan chicken. He is literally covered in feathers, like a bird (except for the lower half of his hind legs, which are bare). There may be a few scales here and there, but they are, for the most part, unseen due to his coverage.

[Personality]

Zeekie is an expressive and quirky dinosaur with plenty of energy to go around. He is playful, outspoken, and easily excited, while at the same time kindly and eager to please those he’s with, whether they be strangers or friends. At first glance, he could be compared to the general stereotype of a dog, and most of the time that stereotype unfortunately rings true to his nature.

However, in the heat of danger he is also courageous and readily forgetful of his own shortcomings, instead prepared to defend his companions to the death. Sometimes he can think things through and be clever enough to lead the enemy on a chase. Other time’s he can be rather... oblivious to the right strategy and might challenge the enemy head on, even if said enemy is much, much bigger than him.

The raptor’s behavior around acquaintances doesn’t contrast much at all from the way he conducts himself around his friends, although there are a few slight differences. For one, Zeekie saves affectionate teasing only for those he’s close to, and is less watchful about what he says. He can be adequately polite with his words around newcomers, but when it comes to buddies he finds himself talking a little more bluntly.

When it comes the more negative feelings, the raptor isn’t afraid to express these either. If he’s feeling sulky or upset, you’ll know it, but at the same time these moods are very much like a child’s; rather shallow in reason and quick and fleeting.

When he does have a real moment of desolation, however, it’s only in the safe company of his friends. Once in a blue moon Zeekie will acknowledge the grave seriousness of a situation, and will allow himself some moments of concern, worry, or even despair. They are emotions he would rather not dwell on, as he is a creature who prefers to live in hope and faith rather than depression; however, in the event that something terrible had happened to his friends, Zeekie would not be afraid to grieve.

[Abilities]

(I) Zeekie’s build allows him great speed and agility. He can run up to 45 miles an hour while still making sharp turns and dodges, much like a jackrabbit.

(II) Being of raptor build and bird ancestry (decestry?) Zeekie has great perception. His eyesight is excellent and he can be quite observant when it comes to visual details. With some focus, even things from far away can still look quite sharp and clear to him. He is excellent at studying and solving puzzles and mazes, much like a gray parrot.

(III) While he doesn’t exactly have complete hands, Zeekie does have three thin fingers on each arm that could be used for crude manipulation of objects, as well as the basic grabs and pulls.

(IV) Zeekie is small. He is the size of a chicken. Combine this with his previously mentioned abilities and you have a very evasive creature who might prove to be a challenge to catch if you’re very big.

(V) Due to his travels with the unicorn through so many realms, Zeekie is fairly good at identifying other creatures. He may be terrible at remembering things about them, but otherwise he could easily name most of the species featured in Deep Forest.

[Disadvantages]

(I) Zeekie may be fast, but like cheetahs, cannot keep his fastest speed up for very long. He’d have to take frequent breaks to regain his breath for a racing marathon, and usually just dashes around at 20 miles an hour if he doesn’t want to tire himself out too quickly.

(II) Zeekie may have great perception, but he sure is terrible at judging people. Being naive and gullible, he can easily be fooled, tricked, or convinced by others. If you’re not doing anything obviously bad or ‘evil,’ he sure as hell isn’t going to suspect a thing.

(III) Zeekie’s hands are thin and agile, but definitely not strong. One could probably shake him off without much effort at all, and that goes for his bite as well.

(IV) Zeekie is small. He is the size of a chicken. When it comes to an all-out brawl, he is not going to win.

(V) Magic skills? Magic resistance? What magic resistance? Zeekie, unfortunately, is of no help in this department.

[Family]
A bunch of wonderful guys in white coats. They were nice. Oh, and a unicorn. There was a unicorn too.

[History]

I will make this clear once and only once. Everything about this character is kind of meant to be ridiculous.

... With that said, onto the history!

Like one might expect, the dinosaur was hatched and raised in a science lab, the project of the ‘chickenosaur’ now having reached success in other poultry as well. His life consisted of frequent appointments and lots of needles to monitor his growth and behaviors. It wasn’t exactly the most pleasant existence, but it wasn’t necessarily painful or miserable; at least, not to him. The hatchling knew nothing else of life, and he was provided plenty of periods to run around in the backyard or play with the more interactive white-coats there. He was given acceptable food and an alright place to sleep, although the night quarters were fairly confining.

However, he hadn’t lived here for very long (this being five months at the most) when the scientists brought in a strange creature one night...

It was a unicorn. Sea-foam white and bearded with dark gray hairs, the young stallion had been created several years ago from the remains of unicorns long-dead, his parents recently discovered skeletons thousands of years old. The dinosaur did not know this, but was very intrigued, for he had never seen another creature before other than the scientists, and wondered endlessly about where the creature had been taken.

It just so happened that he had a spontaneous appointment that same night, and the raptor was taken into the same lab room as the unicorn for further studies. He was being prepared for the usual injections and needles, while the unicorn was being prepared for dissections. There wasn’t enough funding to go around, and earlier that week the scientists had been forced to choose one branch of study to focus on and drop the other. They’d decided to keep going with the dinosaur project, while scrapping the unicorn. The dinosaur had no idea of what was going on, for he was rather young and naive.

Unicorns, however, are something else entirely.

The scientists did not take into account that unicorns were something above the basic biology of other creatures. They did not consider for a moment that unicorns could recover from tranquilizers far more quickly than any other animal or contain far more inherent knowledge of the earth and its many neighboring realms than even they could, and they certainly did not take into account that the unicorn could understand every word they were speaking right now. Upon realizing that he was being marked for death, the unicorn flew into a holy rage.

Breaking apart his constraints, he began to wreak havoc on the room as he searched for a way out. In the panic, the scientist holding the dinosaur had lost his grip, and the raptor, more curious and amazed than scared, found himself chasing after the magnificient creature that had just escaped the room.

When the stallion realized that he had company, he had turned at first in hostility, but softened at the sight of his fellow prisoner. Deciding that it’d be better to take him along than leave him here, the unicorn bit on the dinosaur’s scruff, escaping the lab and taking the dinosaur with him. Using his special... uni-powers, the unicorn took them into a new realm to escape the lab and its scientists.

He named the dinosaur Iezekiel.

For months they travelled the many different realms of reality, for as much as he enjoyed Iezekiel’s company, the stallion wished to travel freely and did not want to raise an animal with partially carnivorous tendencies; it was rather depressing, especially for a unicorn, whose nurturing nature makes friendships with meat eaters a little complicated. He searched for the right place to leave his charge, somewhere where he could live out his life safely.

When the unicorn found Deep Forest, he believed he’d found the right place. He remained at the edge of the forest, bringing food for Iezekiel and slowly decreasing his visits to soften his eventual departure, for he did not want to hurt the young dinosaur’s feelings. Unfortunately he still did. Kind of. Especially the day he finally told Zeekie that he was going to be leaving for good, and that for the dinosaur to live, he must venture into the forest.

The unicorn granted him temporary immortality as a last parting gift, and informed the dinosaur that he could release his immortality to live out an ordinary life at any time he wished. He also promised to come back, at least someday, for while unicorns are naturally forgetful creatures they are not heartless, and he would like to see how the raptor could fair in his absence. If it was bad, he'd take him elsewhere.

~~~Deep Forest History~~~
Over his time spent in Deep Forest, Neto has forged new friendships, enemies, and interesting stories to tell. His adventures in Deep Forest have continued in:
Anything Else We Need to Know?:
Zeekie’s diet is omnivorous. It consists of fish, small rodents, a few insects and berries and... strangely enough, coconuts. Zeekie loves coconuts.
