[Past Names] Thistlekit; Thistlepaw; Thistlenick
[Clan]  ThornClan

[What's In A Name?]

[Prefix] "Thistle" was the suffix of her grandfather's name.  She was given the name Thistlekit by her mother, Dappledspike.

[Suffix]  "Nick" is a synonym for 'cut' or 'scratch.'  Whoever gave Thistlenick her final suffix clearly believed in displaying ThornClan's formidability through their warriors' names.  After she herself became leader, Thistlenick changed her name to Thistlestar, as is tradition.

|| PERSONAL INFORMATION ||

[Personality]
[Charismatic]
The first thing you may notice about Thistlestar is how quickly she can ease you into a conversation. The she-cat is very good at figuring out the way a cat works, and how to get through to them based on the behavioral traits and signals she picks up on; a nice talent to have when you're in a position that might involve negotiating with rival Clans, but to Thistlestar, even nicer when helping a shy cat break out of their shell.

[Empathetic]
If a Clan-mate is off sulking on their own, Thistlestar's the first cat to see how she can help, whether she knows them well or not. She's been known to take lonely apprentices out on patrols with her, and to teach spatting kittens how to apologize to one another instead of keeping grudges. If there is a rift between clan-mates that could cause problems in the Clan, Thistlestar is probably the first to know of it, and the first to try and solve the feud before it gets out of hand.

[Clan Pride]
when it comes to gatherings, Thistlestar will keep her Clan's dignity in the highest regard above all else. Pride is a valued virtue of ThornClan, and Thistle carefully upholds that in the face of nosey rivals. Should you ever ask her if there's anything you can do for her Clan in hard times, she'll be quick to turn down your offer, and to assure you that she and her Clan-mates are perfectly capable on their own. "Ah, don't worry about us. We're big kits, we can handle it~"

[Steady Nerves]
This warrior is no pushover and will fiercely stand up for her Clanmates (or sometimes against them if she absolutely must) and her beliefs in the face of the enemy. However, Thistlestar is at her most impressive when in battle. So much as threaten her Clan, and she'll make sure that you pay for it with her own teeth and claws.

[Hidden Playfulness]
Oh, don't worry; Thistlestar hasn't forgotten what it is to have fun! She does have a more playful side to her that is mostly saved for friends and family, though if compromising her dignity can diffuse a tense situation, she won't be afraid to act a little silly to break the ice!

[Flaws]
Thistlestar may be too much of a negotiator. Her hesitance to give her Clan-mates harsh punishment when it's called for can be looked down upon by her own warriors, as well as the other clans. Besides this, she's just as proud and stubborn as the rest of her clan-mates. It may take her a while to accept the fact that her clan needs help from someone else.

 Character Update 1- Ever since the earthquake tragedies and the deal she struck with Cloudystar, Thistlestar has grown quieter, somber, and more brooding. This is both due to recent events and the fact that the she-cat has been forced to acknowledge the need for an alliance in the first place. It isn't easy admitting that you can't provide for your clan on your own, and it's even harder to trust those offering such aid. Her mind almost always seems to be in another place of worry nowadays, though she still tries to be cheerful and optimistic for her clan and those she cares about.

Character Update 2- Thistlestar has since been able to recover from the terrible losses her clan had endured, as well as come to terms (if only in sheer tolerance) with her alliance between CloverClan and MeadowClan.  However, a leader's job is never easy, and life seems to continually bring her more issues and problems to be confronted with.  The solutions she may find for sticky situations don't always sit well with her clan-mates, either (such as refusing to banish a ThornClan queen even when she was carrying non-clan kits), so while she tries to maintain the same approachable personality she is known for, she has also been forced to utilize her authority when stressing to her clan that her final word is law.  She hates this new-found strained relationship with her clan-mates just as much as they do, and wishes with all her heart that they could just trust her on her judgment.

Character Update 3- For the rescue-raid against the gang, Thistlestar had been careful in choosing her most capable warriors for this dangerous task and wisely having apprentices and younger, inexperienced warriors stay behind to protect the camp should any gang cats try and capture their kits again.  When she realized that a couple of her warriors and apprentices (even her own apprentice, Shiningpaw) had deliberately disobeyed her orders to stay behind and followed ThornClan's patrol into battle, she realized just how serious her clan actually took her.  Which... wasn't very much.  Thistlestar is struggling not to lose faith in ThornClan when she has already sworn to devote all nine lives to them, but sometimes her position as a leader can feel a little disheartening.

|| STATISTICAL INFORMATION ||

:: Strongest skill ::
Speed-  Thistlestar is built for it.  With her long legs, lithe body, and short streamlined fur, she's excellent both at outpacing and outmaneuvering the enemy.

:: Strengths ::

Agility- A good skill to pair with speed.  What Thistlestar lacks in bulk she makes up for in acrobatics, preferring to outsmart the enemy with dodges and counter-attacks instead of facing them head-on.

Diplomacy- To be a good leader, you must be at least adequate in your tact.  It is your job to speak with clan leaders often, negotiate territory lines, maintain respect, and be your clan's judge, ambassador, and commander all at once.  Thistlenick was always fairly good at getting along with cats when she was younger, but as Thistlestar she's definitely gained a lot more experience when it comes to dealing with others.

:: Weakest skil ::
Brute Strength- ... Come on.  Just look at her.  The poor thing's got no meat on her bones.  You really think she's going to win any battles by pushing her enemy out of her way?

:: Weaknesses ::

Intimidation- Thistlestar relies on her diplomacy for much more than you think.  Both her build and her generally polite nature doesn't help with her formidability in front of others, nor is her coat thick enough to "poof out" intimidatingly whenever she bristles her fur.

:: Fears ::

Losing her loved ones, her friends, her children, or her clan's faith in her.

|| HISTORIC INFORMATION ||

{History}

(Birth season) Early Leafbare

[ Kit-hood ]
Thistlekit didn't have a very exciting life in her opinion, though she certainly made things interesting for her parents, who were almost always on their toes trying to keep her within clan camp grounds. She was a restless and curious kit, but thankfully without a rude bone in her body, which was at least some relief to the... happy... couple...

[ Apprenticeship ]
Thistlepaw had a very good mentor who knew how to work with her rambunctiousness. He taught her how to fight and hunt as well as how to maneuver carefully through the territory. Once she became a warrior, however, that latter part just kind of flew out the window later on.

[ Warrior ]
At first glance, one could have never guessed that a cat like this could ever become the next deputy. Thistlenick was high-strung and playful, both reckless and careless in her pawsteps. When on her own the calico tended to stumble into more thorns than any other self-respecting ThornClan warrior, and often came home with splinters in her pads and burrs knotted into her fur. It wasn't that StarClan cursed her with clumsiness, but that Thistlenick had a very impatient nature... far too impatient to step slowly and gracefully through the thorns, thus making her the very bane of her medicine cat's existence; and to some, the shame of her entire Clan. And so it was that the she-cat led a fairly average life, until the day that a senior warrior's kits sneaked out of camp...

When patrols were sent out, it was Thistlenick who soon found the lost kittens being attacked by an hungry owl. The young warrior came to their rescue without a second thought, and managed to fight the bird off until it picked her up by the scruff, choosing her as its meal instead. She was carried above the trees and just barely survived by swatting thorn-branches with her paw into the owl's eyes, forcing it to release her. Thistlenick's shoulder was dislocated when she finally hit the ground, but her act of bravery didn't go unrecognized by the Clan. It wasn't long before she was appointed deputy.

[ Deputy ]
As the seasons passed, cats started to see an unexpected change in Thistlenick; a change for the better. The she-cat's experiences as a deputy were molding her into a warrior more deserving for the role; careful in her thoughts, patient in her actions, and far more responsible with her decisions. She grew more aware of the kind of image she gave to other Clans, and conducted herself more properly at gatherings, understanding that acting childish was unfitting as an ambassador to her Clan. She retained her playful nature, but tried much harder to keep it at bay, instead saving it for the time that she spent with family and friends. After all, ThornClan needed a leader out of her-- not a kit-- and as far as Thistlenick was concerned, she owed it to her Clan to be as best a deputy as she could when they were the ones who entrusted this position to her. She remained a friendly and charismatic spirit, but her responsibilities would always come first before recreational priorities.

[ Leader ]
Thistlestar didn't want to follow in the pawsteps of her Clan's previous leader, and she strives to not make the same mistakes as Temperstar in everything she does. Thistlestar has made the welfare of her Clan her utmost priority. She is very involved in their activities and problems, and does her best to not set up 'walls' between her and her fellow cats. She may be leader, but in the end they're all just ThornClan clan-mates whose strength is in not just her, but each other.

However, recent events have made Thistlestar's popularity rather questionable in the eyes of her clan.  After agreeing to the alliance between MeadowClan and CloverClan, many of her warriors wonder whether they can trust her completely.  Besides this, Thistlestar refused to banish two ThornClan queens carrying fatherless kits, even with the glaring possibility that their children might have been sired by rival cats.  What may be perceived as kindness and wisdom to some can be viewed as blindness and insanity to others, and so at this point in time, ThornClan's opinion of their leader remains torn.
